So we broke down and joined the HOA for our neighborhood.  We are part of another one around the corner from us and they have a pool, playground and tennis courts.  Best $$ we have spent since moving here!!  We will get our money’s worth @ the pool this summer!!

Saying Goodbye

May 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Why are these words so hard to say at certain times.  We say them every day.  When we talk on the phone, when we visit with friends, when we drop the kids off @ school.  Yet there are certain times when saying those words really suck.  This week is one of those times.  We are saying goodbye to some incredible people this coming Sunday and that will be incredibly hard.

What’s the hardest time you have ever had saying goodbye?

Boundries

May 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I can remember growing up one summer my grandparent’s (on the Hopkins) side took me to my Aunt & Uncle’s farm in Tenneess for a visit.  They had a cattle farm and raised both meat and show cattle.  When we first got there they showed us around  the house, the barn and the fields where the cattle where.  My uncle showed us an electirc fence they had that would shock the cattle if they tried to get out.  He threw something at the fence and we could hear the electric shock.  It scared me to death.  To this day I am still very leary about getting near a fence espically if I know it’s an electric fence.

That got me thinking about what I needed to do for myself and for my family.  To be honest I don’t know what that means but I do know it means I need to do something.  As we transation into another step in this crazy adventure of life I know we need to guard ourselves and make sure we have boundries.  Some areas I am thinking I need boundries are:

  • Work (leave it there)
  • Web (email, facebook, twitter)
  • When & where I answer my cell phone
  • This blog
  • What is on our TV

What are some ways you all have boundries?  How or who manages those for you?

Where Does The Time Go?

May 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Right now I am in a weird place.  Not a bad weird but a good weird.  So many opportunties are being presented to me right now I am having a hard time processing everything.  That means I need to watch my time even more.  Thinking about turning Facebook off for a period of time.  How do you manage your time??

- wifey calling or texting
- the kids calling
- the kids texting
- seeing their face when i get home
- seeing their face when they realize i bought them something
- pulling up @ the dry cleaners and them knowing my name
- my fav starbuck’s drink
- and friends
